Clemson University’s facilities maintenance services department intends to sole source a new Federal Signal siren system at Ravenel Center. Clemson University’s existing outdoor warning system is comprised of Federal Signal 2001-130 Mechanical Sirens and Modulator Electronic Sirens and Federal Signal is the sole manufacturer of the Siren series activated and monitored via Federal Commander Digital System software and no other manufacturer’s software can activate or monitor Federal Signal sirens/controllers with our FSK protocol. To activate/monitor/control any new sirens via existing Federal Commander Software, sirens/controllers must be manufactured by Federal Signal and include our proprietary digital (FSK) communication protocol and cannot be purchased from any other company. For these reasons, Clemson University is requesting a sole source at a total price of $58.412.00. Bidder’s right to protest as listed in Section 11-35-4210 in the South Carolina Consolidated Procurement Code applies to this announcement of an intent to sole source.
